[Bug] [Suggestion]: Phantom window clipping. Maybe a way to identify which window is responsible?
What's the issue?
Example of bug:
Every so often, DelvUI finds a reason to clip against a window that doesn't exist. Often, it's Mappy (Mappy subsumes the stock map by opening it and then hiding it, and bringing up its own map). DelvUI still thinks the stock map is open and will clip against it, and to fix it, I need to disable Mappy, move the stock map out of bounds, and then reenable Mappy. However, Mappy is not responsible for this time. I don't know which window is. I've gone through all the ones I can think of. It would be much easier if there were, for instance, a Debug tab which describes everything that DelvUI is clipping against, so I don't have to peck at every key on my keyboard to find the one that un-obliterates half of the data on my screen.
I got a burst of inspiration (while writing the ticket), and I checked the Summoning Bell. It was a retainer window that was causing the bad clip. I don't know which, because I selected the first three options (Entrust inventory, Entrust Gil, Sell on Market). But I was not using the bell when the screenshot was taken.
It's usually Mappy, and that makes it tolerable (if irritating). But I'd been searching for 25 minutes, so I'm rather fed up. Got any solutions?
FFXIV Update
- [X] I have confirmed that I have the latest version of XIVLauncher and DelvUI.
The problem with Mappy is how it hides the stock map and we have generalized behaviour on how FFXIV game windows work.
You can do /xldev -> Dalamud -> Open Data Window -> Addon Inspector (which version doesn't really matter) -> Loaded -> Click any window that is green -> Hold your mouse over the green Res node and it should draw a box around what it is.
The only thing additional to game windows that can clip windows through DelvUI is Umbra which had a bug that was fixed pretty quickly last time.

Difficult to tell considering how sporadic the issue is. I've checked it against past known-cases of this happening, and it doesn't seem to happen. For now, I'll close the ticket, but keep an eye out for it. I'll reopen the ticket if it happens again, if that's cool.
