Putting MMI's into an IPC chassis does not do anything.
Description
Putting a MMI into an IPC chassis does not allow the player in the MMI to control the IPC, despite it being stated that you can do so in changelogs. Reproduction
- get a players brain and insert it into a MMI.
- perform surgery and insert it into an IPC chassis
- revive the chassis if it is dead
- As the MMI, attempt to move around in the chassis Screenshots
Additional context
I discovered this issue today after attempting to revive a gibbed player via this method.
related + would be good to include with the fix, the guidebook is outdated and says IPCs can not be made.
In testing, the chassis itself appears to spawn conscious (but SSD), and inserting a MMI/Posibrain only puts it inside instead of making it the consciousness source of the IPC body
Origin #3418
In further testing, it seems like whether or not the positronic brain becomes the consciousness of the body depends on if the role is taken (brain is active) when inserted, regardless of if the chassis is dead or not. That is, inserting an active PB allows it to take over the body, whereas the PB activating inside the chassis does not allow it to. MMIs do not appear to be able to be able to take over the chassis at all, even on IPC torsos that weren't printed, and even possessing the MMI itself, with no brain in it. Possessing an IPC with and MMI and organic brain in it doesn't tie the player to the brain as it does with an inactive PB inside of it.
The brain needing to be active is brought up here: https://github.com/DeltaV-Station/Delta-v/pull/3264
the inactive thing is because its hardcoded for borg chassis only
Leaving open, Known long term issue, hoping for a fix/miracle
