It's a upstream issue from long ago. I think it has been buried to prevent public knowledge of it, but the thing is you can use the virtual item, you can also use a cleanbot to mop for budget advanced mop. Also it's not only a Jaws of Life, its a JoL that can open bolted doors.

You can also use living spiders that you have picked up with two hands just as if it’s a normal tool.

Made a little bit of documentation (made in a text file after a round) before I knew there was already a thread on this. I'm certain this issue is with the entire lifting system and how it treats lifted entities (or your occupied hands)

Tarantula Bug Documentation:: [lift refers to "picking up" a person, in my case alt+e/alt+click] [any living creature is assumed to have the same interaction while dead unless stated otherwise]

lift a tarantula (dead or alive) to:

  • (replicated, unusually easy to do) use (E or click on door) as bad jaws of life (opens all doors) (apparently works on bolted doors, completely busted)
  • (replicated) be grabbed and walk out, or something to lose all speed penalty on it (and provide speed for slip bug)
  • (replicated) be slipped (unknown if lube works, bless mrp for working janitors) to have the lifted entity stuck to your body, where it cannot be dropped or dragged (can be sprite-dragged off onto chair, naturally)
  • (not replicated) hold an item in one hand (in this case, a gray blahaj) despite having lifted entity, may be related to "main" lifting hand vs offhand

The issues:

  • This PROBABLY allows using anything you "lift" as a tool if it has any interaction with anything ever, so a lifted zombie should act like a weak jaws of life to due to their door-prying mechanic
  • It is unknown if they can be used as a weapon, but if they can, uh, yowch, dead carp are suddenly """useful"""
  • I'm not Livrah, I'm not going to abuse a bug/exploit like this in order to gather attention to it, or powergame in general. But someone else probably will.
  • Its dishonorable and an abuse of a young system, these bugs are likely consistent across much of the lifting system everywhere. I'll point it out as I have here and carry on, good luck.

Should be a feature tbh, it's backed by science: https://advanced.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/advs.202201174

The unique walking mechanism of spiders—relying on hydraulic pressure rather than antagonistic muscle pairs to extend their legs—results in a necrobotic gripper that naturally resides in its closed state and can be opened by applying pressure. The necrobotic gripper is capable of grasping objects with irregular geometries and up to 130% of its own mass. Furthermore, the gripper can serve as a handheld device [...]
