Design: Show overview of used/free IPs
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. When creating new Network Devices you might get in situations where you are unable to know which IP is still available. In larger networks you don´t have the overview nor time to check every possible IP.
Describe the solution you'd like A drop-down menu or an overview of free IPs next to the IP in-put section.
Describe alternatives you've considered Spend time to check which IPs are already used or try every IP possible until a free IP is found.
Additional context There is missing an info text if an IP is already used when trying to add an device.
Hi @F1L337 👋
Could you please elaborate on the situation in network devices when the interface doesn't show you a ,free' IP address?
When adding a new network device the interface automatically assigns a first free IP address.
If you want to change it for some reason - it states if the IP you have selected is free.
That's why it hard for me to figure out a situation when it's not clear?
I do agree that the dropdown would be better - for sure.
Thank you in advance.
Hey @teon The only option that is given that shows you a free IP adress is that, if you initially want to add the device, that the first free IP is automatically choosen. But if the first free IP is 192.168.1.30 but you want to have an IP from the range 192.168.1.150 - 192.168.1.250, you need to try the right combination. For me, in v1.4, it doens´t state if the IP is available.
- If it´s available, I can just add the device
- If not, I can´t add the device. The only feedback I recieve is the loading button for a millisecond (see picture)
I confirm, that here is no error message now that the IP is "taken".
@F1L337 we will plan the new feature for 1.6 - but for now we will fix the no indication issue - here is the bug: https://github.com/DefGuard/defguard/issues/1382
