'Quick tap' 150 milliseconds threshold too fast/short & 'Peek Left / Right' but at 120 degrees (peek behind)

Good morning,

There is a bug with your Quick Camera mod. Basically, this mod is practically unplayable to flip the camera from front to back, because you have set too little a delay to press the relevant button. You have to press very briefly and I admit that it's very annoying, so I changed the tempo from 150 ms to 350 ms. Now the camera flip function works correctly when you press the designated button (Flip 180°), it works for sure!! Can you do an update to resolve this problem, I think it will make people happy because many people must not have understood this timing problem with the keys!

Another small modification I made was regarding the quick glance, front left and front right (Peek Left and Peek Right). For me, it's not very useful, other than to take a look when you want to enter an intersection, which can also be done by turning the camera manually. Therefore, I changed the rotation value from 60 degrees to 120 degrees, this helps to give a look to the left rear and right rear. This is ideal for watching where your tool is going (example: a rear mower when you arrive at the end of the line, to lift it at the right time!). Can you add these two new rear views in the Quick Camera? I think this might interest a lot of people.

The timing of what to consider a "quick tap" versus a "long-hold" of a key (or button) is very person-to-person and age individual, and probably also the type of hardware input-device being used (keyboard with heavy spring-release keys, keyboard with touch-type, etc.)

I am a fast keyboard-typer myself (always set 'delay before repeat' to shortest/fastest setting), so for me 150 ms is adequate for a "quick tap" event.

But I see your point - as I too get older through the years, and very likely will get slower with mowing the fingers across the keyboard - having a fixed 150 ms being "not enough time for releasing the just-pressed-key".

Regarding the Peek Left & Peek Right angle, it is only supposed to be a "look left / right when crossing the street" kind of peek - and I highly doubt you look behind yourself when needing to enter onto or is about to cross a street.

Though maybe the addition of two new input-actions for 'Peek Behind Left' and 'Peek Behind Right' could be made. - Then it can still be up to each player, configuring which keys - if any at all - to use for what action.

Version 2.0.0.0 have been made public, which contains the two enhancements:

  • Increased "long hold" to 300 milliseconds.
  • Added new input-actions for 'peek behind left/right'.
