Feature request: import existing playlists

Open godlike64 opened this issue 2 years ago • 0 comments

There seems to be currently no way of (mass) importing existing m3u playlists and have them show up separately in the playlist browser. Tried the following:

  • File -> Load playlist: can only select one. It replaces the contents of the currently highlighted playlist ('Default' if no other playlists exist).
  • Drag and drop from file manager onto Deadbeef: Can select multiple playlists, but appends each playlist's contents on the currently selected playlist

I have a music library already setup with m3u playlists I created. I have playlists versions both with relative and absolute paths as different players accept different file paths inside the playlist. I want to import all these playlists into Deadbeef, so that I can have them available in the playlist browser. Other music players already do this (the one that comes to mind is Quod Libet, which is actually quite fast in loading each playlist).

Without this feature, I would have to manually do this for each playlist (I have >250):

  1. Add new playlist.
  2. Fill up the playlist, either by drag & drop or file -> load playlist.
  3. Rename the playlist accordingly.

If there is a way of doing this that I overlooked, I'd be thankful if it could be pointed out to me :) and this issue of course could be closed.

Deadbeef version: 1.8.8 OS: Linux
