[BUG] Program Closes Itself Sporadically
Program closes itself periodically while playing games, no idea what's causing this, but at random intervals the application on my pc will close and my controller is unusable until I exit game and reopen it. Proves frustrating on online games. I've tried both keeping the window open in the background and having it in the tray. I've also attempted to move it to my task bar but it always hides itself in the tray (hidden icons) in the bottom right. Switch Pro Controller
Any support would be highly appreciated.
Thank you
Two questions:
- Are you using the bundled drivers or the latest drivers from Nefarius's (author of the drivers) GitHub?
- If you are using the drivers bundled with BetterJoy, did you just install ViGEmBus or did you also install HidGuardian?
I'm asking because I remember the "application randomly closing" issue happening to me a long while ago and it was pissing the hell out of me, but come to think of it I haven't had it in the last two years. The only things that changed are that I:
- Stopped using HidGuardian or its successor HidHide entirely.
- Started using the latest ViGEmBus release from GitHub instead of any bundled drivers
Since Nefarius's drivers came with built-in updaters, who knows what version of them is installed on your PC at the moment. I recommend carefully reading the documentation for both HidGuardian and HidHide and removing both from your system (emphasis on carefully because improper removal can murder your inputs from all devices). Once those are removed and your input devices are (hopefully) functioning normally, remove ViGEmBus, all Nefarius's updaters and other software and only install the latest release of ViGEmBus from his GitHub (if you need HidHide, install the latest release from there as well).
Idk if this will solve your issue, but it might be worth giving it a shot if you have an evening to kill.
