The confusing part is that everyone can see the correct answers, even if they didn't submit the HA (home assignment).

They often compare the correct answers with their own and, if they don't see themselves on the leaderboard, they get confused. Sometimes they forget whether they actually didn't submit the HA (or can't check that) or weren't logged in. As a result, they may incorrectly assume the system is at fault and claim their answers weren't recorded.
