Choppy note FPS

Open 641i130 opened this issue 6 years ago • 11 comments

In the Android version of the two newest releases, when playing a live game, the FPS of the notes falling down just becomes really choppy. Everything else in the game is still running well. I don't know what's causing this or if anyone else is experiencing this.

It's "Improved Note Sync" setting. It's turned on by default but can be turned off in Settings -> General Settings. Note that you may experience audio-note desynchronization issue if you turn that off.

I tried that but it didn't change anything either. I even went down a version and it changed nothing.

So it doesn't happen in v3.0.3, and only happends in v3.0.4 and v3.0.5?

It also happens in 3.0.3. Its really weird since LLSIF runs perfectly on this device.

So basically this only happen in v3.0 release, and not v2.0? This sounds odd. What's your device? Can you screenshot the System Information screen? You can access System Information screen by tapping the bottom part of the main menu, the one with bunch of text.

Just finishing a level in 2.0 it worked perfectly without any frame drop. Here is the screenshot in the latest version: Click Me.

Okay this sounds odd.

The difference of v2.0 and v3.0 is the architecture and the LOVE framework version used. v2.0 uses 11.1 while v3.0 uses modified 11.2 with fillrate fix (v3.0.5 specifically uses 11.3 nightly). v2.0 does not utilize any additional CPU core when loading the game, but v3.0 does.

The fillrate fix is there to greatly improve the performance in some drivers, notably Adreno 5xx series and later.

I'll leave this issue open until someone can reproduce the problem.

Can I know your device? And if possible, can you record video describing your issue?

It's a Samsung S5. I don't have any space for recording software. 😓

It's hard to find old phone that barely run this game for testing. Also is v3.0.0 (yes, v3.0.0) has same problem?

Yeah its also really oddly choppy.

Unfortunately I don't think there's other way to fix this other than getting new hardware.
