I'd recommend using MariaDB for your database. You can download it here: https://downloads.mariadb.org/ If high-performance is not important and you only have a few visitors at any time, you can also opt for https://sqlite.org/index.html Also supported is https://www.postgresql.org/download/ but hasn't been well tested with the chat and is a less common choice of database.

There is no additional SQL file needed. The chat script automatically creates the database, if you configured the connection details at the bottom of the script.
