Amazon Mechanical Turk currently not support my country

I was trying to install Dallinger in Indonesia, and faced an error while trying to register for MTurk. Is it okay if I proceed without MTurk? Or do you know any other solutions to the problem I'm facing? image

Hi @muhammad-levi --

If you want to recruit using MTurk you will need an MTurk recruiter account. We have experimental Prolific support which could provide an alternative for you, but this will still have some teething problems that we are working on ironing out over the coming weeks.

Hi @pmcharrison, thank you for responding,

Hmm I see, so if I do not want to recruit using MTurk, do I will still be able to use Dallinger? Because I see in the docs that MTurk doesn't have "(optional)" like OSF. Thus, I thought MTurk is indispensable to use Dallinger.

Pardon me, I am new to this Dallinger tool. 🙏

Like I say, Dallinger also supports the MTurk alternative Prolific, but the support is experimental, so you are likely to encounter limitations/bugs for now.

But to be honest, it might be a bit tricky right now.... I"m not sure how up to date the documentation will be for that option!

Is there a way you can create a US account instead? e.g. via a US friend?

Hi Peter, Levi and team would like to utilize the WhatsApp API to exchange information with Dallinger. Levi is with the Summit Institute for Development and they are doing some digital health work and have automated WhatsApp exchanges with a large cohort of pregnant women in Indonesia. I met Tom Griffiths in St Andrews last week, and we would like to collaborate on use of Dallinger to enhance maternal and newborn care. Is MTurk required to exchange messages or game responses with Dallinger?

Thanks for your help.

Dear @anuraj-shankar- it seems that your use case do not require recruiting new participants (say from Mturk/Prolific) but accessing existing participants. I think that this use case do not require Mturk account, but instead interacting with a dallinger server. We devised some tools toward this use-case, but this may require further understanding of your use case. Perhaps taking this dicussion out of github would be helpful in this case (e.g meeting on zoom/ or more detailed email describing the use case).
