iOS 14 "Unable to authenticate, are you blocking cookies?"

No matter what I do -- and I went through all of the Safari settings that appear to be relevant -- I can't get Toot! to connect to hackers.town. The login popup always goes directly to the "Unable to authenticate, are you blocking cookies?" screen after I enter my username and password.

This is a Mastodon bug, not a Toot! issue. The error message is unhelpful, but I found that it helps to clear cookies and, if the bug shows up, just try and load the start page of the instance again, most of the time the login actually did work. Note that you can log in in the Safari app and you'll be logged in the popover browser
