Graphical Glitches when using TwiLight Menu's Screen Color Filters

Open Sourd0ughBread opened this issue 2 months ago • 2 comments

Flashcard or Exploits? boot9strap Base Console: 3DS

TWiLight Menu++ Version: v27.18.0 TWiLight Menu++ UI: Nintendo DSi

Expected behavior

Game runs with the color filters without graphical glitches

Actual behavior

Various glitches can occur, such as: *When a sprite appears, the original colors of the sprite are being used for a split second before the color filter is applied *Some sprites appear as flickering black boxes *Some sprites would flicker between their original colors and the filter applied colors

https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/79e07374-0f10-4261-8a5f-3a9c62af4a35

*The upper pixels of both screens may flicker with bright colors

Steps to reproduce

  1. Enter Twilight Menu++'s settings
  2. Tab to Misc. settings and apply a color filter through the Screen Color Filter option (I mainly use Warm Incandescent, but this does happen with other color filters)
  3. Boot up any ds game with a screen color filter applied (The games I mainly boot using TWLMenu's screen color filters are My World My Way, Pokemon Heart Gold, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky, and Rune Factory 3)

This is unfortunately a difficult issue to fix, since the filter is being applied by nds-bootstrap itself (works on DSi as well, as a result) rather than TWL_FIRM.

That's unfortunate. i've been using screen filters on luma3ds with no graphical issues so I thought maybe it's not a big deal. Hope it gets addressed eventually
