Data Abort when connecting to Sudomemo on Flipnote Studio

Open Sergaliciousnes opened this issue 2 years ago • 6 comments

Your console: DSi (DEV-TWL-JPN)

Launch Method: SD Card

Version used: nds-bootstrap release v0.71.2

Game tested/used/applicable:

  • UGOMEMO-V2_KGUJ01_02.nds SHA1: da1be4f291c8d74dc9551e5a441555c80ea79851 MD5: 990584865b48a2404e19b2e06323872d

Save file: save.zip

Expected Behavior: I launch Flipnote Studio from TWiLightMenu and tap on the green Flipnote hatena button, it then connects to sudomemo.

Actual Behavior: I tap on the green Flipnote hatena button and after showing the connecting screen the game crashes to a red screen: screenshot04

Steps to reproduce

  1. Connect to a WiFi access point and change the primary DNS setting to use 104.248.000.110 (the official sudomemo DNS server).
  2. Launch TWiLightMenu using hbmenu (hbmenu is the only homebrew entry point that i can access that will load flipnote studio).
  3. Launch Flipnote Studio.
  4. Tap the big orange edit button (the button on the left).
  5. Tap the green button on the bottom right, then tap yes to connect to sudomemo.
  6. The connecting screen will appear, after a few seconds the red data abort error will appear every time.

Other notes

I use hbmenu to launch TWiLightMenu as the dsi i am using doesn't have the internet browser nor dsi shop. hbmenu (hbmenu.tad) is installed on my system menu using TwlNmenu, it launches like any normal dsiware from the dsi menu.

Using memorypit to load TWiLightMenu doesn't allow me to launch flipnote studio, otherwise i would use that.

If there is another entry point i am missing i can certainly give it a go!

And finally, I understand that i am using an obscure version of the dsi; and as such, is likely not a high priority for you guys, especially if the problem is simply that im using a dev unit. I just simply wish to watch flipnotes on this device, or at the very least understand why i cannot.

I thank you all for your hard work!

Will you be available for future issues and/or replies?

Yes

Does this issue still occur in nds-bootstrap v1.0.0?

Does this issue still occur in nds-bootstrap v1.0.0?

Yes, it does. this has also (for some reason) started happening with my New Nintendo 3ds XL and I've tried different versions of nds-bootstrap with zero solutions. Here's my error: screenshot11

EDIT: 10/3/2023 Just recently dumped my ram and log stuff for the error. (note, the error screen was the same today.) Version used: nds-bootstrap release v1.0.0

Okay guys, WILLLLD update I had recently decided to restore my 3ds nand I backed up after installing cfw on IT (because of reason before). Apparently, sudomemo DOES work after this.

I don't know what this means, but my best guess is when I had accidentally delete some tickets that fbi considered "unused" (sorry that I didn't say this EARLIER) it might've done something to mess up my ds from connecting to sudomemo IMG_20231021_200946

I was able to connect to sudomemo using nds-bootstrap v1.0.0 on the original DSi (DEV-TWL-JPN) that i posted the issue about.

launching hbmenu from launcher, then launching twilightmenu with nds-bootstrap v1.0.0, then launching flipnote and connecting to sudomemo all works fine now!

i am not sure about 3ds as others have posted above.

Hello, sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm having the exact same issue on my DSi XL. My region is North America. Whenever I connect to Sudomemo, it either freezes after two-three minutes, or just crashes instead.

I've updated TWLMenu and everything as of today and tried to replicate what OP did to get Sudomemo to connect without crashing, but had no success. Does anyone have any additional info that might help? I would appreciate it.
