the feature is built into DNN Platform, just the UI is missing

Site Groups will be a version 10 addition I believe it is in the works for adding the UI to the persona bar just a couple things to work out. Possibly sometime after 9.5 release.

This has been brewing for a while now it is soon to be served I believe.
