modtools/create-unit spawned wild animals remain hostile after training

Spawning a normally-aggressive wild animal, eg. modtools/create-unit -race GIANT_TIGER -caste FEMALE -location [ 87 70 88 ], the animal seems to behave normally; but when captured and then trained by an animal trainer, it will upon release immediately attack fortress members, regardless of its training level.
