Improvement for Desktop integration

If I click on something on the desktop, it gets selected, right? Yes. If I click away, it gets deselected. Yes. However, if I do this with Nautilus, on the desktop, the icon won't get deselected. This is a huge UX problem. So I would be happy, if you could fix this and integrate it more. :)
