go-flight support

Open HILOK opened this issue 1 year ago • 7 comments

hi there, thanks so much for doing this. great way to give old sim hardware a second life.

any chance go-flight products could also be supported in the future?

i bet a lot of simmers have those lying around with limited to none usability for DCS. their software, GF-Keys, lets you assign keystrokes to some extent, but not all devices are supported. f.ex. the GF166 VRP (their dedicated radio frequency panel) isn't. also DX emulation would be superior to keystrokes. lastly, so far there's sadly no interface between DCS and GF's LED displays

Seems like a defunct panel manufacturer? I don't know, we are open to adding new panels but it is more a question of getting them cheap. We haven't yet considered DX support since key emulation so far been working well for the users.

hi, thanks for your interest! i thought GF were back in business after covid, but apparently not. with respect to cheap panels, last time i checked, you could get some of them around $80 on ebay...but as mentioned, plenty of simmers should have some GF panels lying around, as they used to be quite popular during 2000 to 2015.

Had a check again today and it is like a large sink hole just got them and they went quiet. Found no official statement, a lot of their business pages still up on various platforms.

thanks for getting back on that topic. not sure what you mean by sink hole... so, you got yourself a panel, and it's not working?

Sink hole => company did a Houdini and there are no real traces of it to be found. I would have expected some official statement declaring that they have gone into insolvency or been bought up or something. No I haven't bought a panel, just looked at ebay and there are a lot of panels for sale.

my guess is that this is/was a 2-man show. iirc there was a statement on their website that the team was getting back together after personal issues and the pandemic, which apparently didn't work out. it's a shame, because their panels are by far superior to those from saitek/logitec with respect to haptics, looks and size, yet very affordable 2nd hand compared to similar products...

That is just sad.
