Sidebar items need tapping twice

My sidebar list items are used to navigate to views. After page load, they require tapping twice to work on my wall tablet (rooted Fire HD8 running Fully Kiosk). After tapping twice they work fine, until the page is reloaded.

I’ve tried Chrome and Android webviews and also have z-index set to 9999 for the sidebar. Is this a bug or is there a way to fix it?
