[Linux] Show/hide icon behavior in system tray based on badge status

In Linux (e.g., KDE Plasma's system tray) there is the possibility to show/hide the icon depending on status, which is great to avoid clutter. I wonder if it would be possible to make the system tray aware of the badge status this way.

Not sure if this is also possible in other OS

This can run on Linux? Where can I get the desktop client for Linux?

What status do you mean? If messages its hard to do since as of now ther is no reliable way to determin if there are new messages.
