Manual dependency management leaves room for error. I suggest using [Hunter](https://hunter.readthedocs.io/en/latest/) or [Conan](https://docs.conan.io/2/) for managing bundled third-party libraries (like Boost, tclap, utfcpp etc.)

The upstream is broken and inactive for many years. Currently, a local fork is used, which is suboptimal. A good replacement could be [`pugixml`](https://pugixml.org/)
