Uninstalling AMP leaves remnants all over the system...

Bug Report

I installed AMP for my dedicated box and to run some MC servers. It wasn't for me; partly because the servers already exist and running and I wasn't sure how to get AMP to lift those services without huge interruption. So, I decided to uninstall. I did this by following information on the CubeCoders forum here: https://discourse.cubecoders.com/t/how-to-uninstall-amp/2273 (running on Ubuntu); this included removing the user etc. and apt remove ampinstmgr.

However, since then I have had some peculiar issues and after some digging can see an unfathomable amount of spam in the syslog for the timed services (amptasks, ampinstrmgr and ampfirewall are the main culprits). These services do not exist any longer (I have since disabled them, although I can't find where they are located); so how can I make sure AMP is uninstalled fully and properly throughout please?

Please also update your documentation for Linux removal, because obviously what is here: https://discourse.cubecoders.com/t/how-to-uninstall-amp/2273 isn't complete.

System Information

  • Operating System (Including distribution name and version number): Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS Release: 20.04 Codename: focal

  • AMP version and build date (Always use the version number, 'latest' is not valid!): Whatever came off: bash <(wget -qO- getamp.sh) 7 days ago.

  • Which AMP release stream you're using (Mainline, Nightly or FastTrack); Mainline

I confirm:

  • [x] that I have searched for an existing bug report for this issue.
  • [x] that I am using the latest available version of AMP.
  • [x] that my operating system is up-to-date.
  • [x] that my checkboxes above look exactly like the one on the left with no extra spaces. Remove this line to confirm you can follow instructions - if this line shows up in the bug report then the whole report will be ignored

Symptoms

  • What are you trying to do? Remove AMP entirely from my Ubuntu system.
  • What are you expecting to happen? It to be gone and not have loads of lingering services, timers and 'other' things.
  • What is actually happening? ('Nothing' is not an acceptable answer!) There are still an huge number of remnants of AMP, timers, services etc.

Reproduction

Enter reproductions steps here.

Install AMP on Ubuntu 20.04 via: bash <(wget -qO- getamp.sh), then use these steps: https://discourse.cubecoders.com/t/how-to-uninstall-amp/2273 for Linux to remove it. Following that removal, apt remove ampinstmgr reports ampinstmgr is gone, it isn't, it exists in systemctl (ampinstmgr.timer & ampinstmgr.service). These services still try to run and are spamming syslog.

Have you rebooted since uninstalling AMP?

FYI getting existing servers into AMP is relatively straightforward: https://discourse.cubecoders.com/docs?topic=1822

Could you enumerate exactly what was left behind? AMP doesn't store things in many places - so I suspect all that happened here is that the systemd units weren't removed because they were running at the time.
