How to create a private tab?

I did not find a way in 4.0 to create a new private tab. How can this be achieved?

At the moment, you can open a private tab by opening the tabs drawer, tapping the incognito icon and then adding a new tab.

I tried this, but it opens a regular tab for me...

Thanks, this is exactly what I do. However, the new tab is not appearing as a private tab (although I created it after pressing the incognito butzon), but as a new regular tab.

That's odd, thanks for reporting the bug. I'll look into this now.

In theory, new tabs shouldn't open as about:blank on new versions, so that's what's probably causing the issue. Could I confirm that you're on v4.0?

Confirmed. I configured it to open blank pages in the settings (Homepage type: "blank page"), because the standard new tab page somehow seemed broken.

Thanks for confirming, I didn't think that setting made it into the v4.0 release because there were a few bugs when the homepage type was set to Blank Page, but I just checked and I guess it didn't get temporarily removed while I fixed the issues. I can now see why the page isn't opening in the private drawer as expected and I'll make sure it's fixed in an update this weekend.
