Unable to uninstall custom nodes, unabel to rollback due to [WinError 5] Access is denied

Hi, need advice if anyone encountered this error before where I cant uninstall any custom nodes I previously installed as it will show a [WinError 5] Access is denied, its not specific to one node by every node behaves the same way.

Because of this its unable to assess when I wish to restore a snapshot as well, making this potentially troublesome for backing up files.

Do let me know if there is a way to resolve this, thanks!

Try termniate ComfyUI and then manually deleting ComfyUI-Crystools from the file explorer.

Manually can be deleted.. but the records still indicate that comfyui manager has installed it, is there a way to do a clean un-installed?

Do you mean that even after deleting the entire custom_nodes/ComfyUI-Crytools directory, it still shows up as installed?

Yup that's correct.. the manager still shows that it's installed..

In that case, you may have installed it multiple times. Try searching for "cry" in the custom_nodes directory.

That message is just a notice saying it will be deleted upon restart. Does it still remain undeleted even after restarting?

I also encountered this problem. The reason was that there were multiple comfyui.exe or python.exe processes (not sure which one caused it) running in the background that were not successfully shut down. After killing all the aforementioned processes, opening comfyui.exe successfully automatically deleted the nodes.

I wasn't able to fix that with closing any kinda duplicated python\comfyui processes or else tasks - didn't have any of these. Wasn't able to delete some custom nodes within ComfyUI Manager as well - had errors like ones mentioned above. Deleting folders from ComfyUI\custom_nodes didn't help either - they were still showing from Settings in ComfyUI and were visible from ComfyUI Manager.

What worked for me after all:

  1. Close ComfyUI if it's open.
  2. Delete custom nodes' folders that you wanna uninstall from ComfyUI\custom_nodes directory.
  3. Then, open ComfyUI\user\default\ComfyUI-Manager\cache folder and there open the most fresh 1514988643_custom-node-list.json - name of file should look like that, but it has some numbers at the beggining of the name. These numbers may differ for you. Guess, these numbers indicate date or time\version of the last cashed custom nodes information.
  4. Then, in this 1514988643_custom-node-list.json delete blocks with information of the nodes that you wanna uninstall. For example I deleted that one:

Just be careful about deleting any other kinda symbols\letters\lines - you're editing .json file with code in it. Then you start ComfyUI and none of the deleted nodes shouldn't be showing either in Settings or ComfyUI Manager menu. They are now completely uninstalled.

And obviously, make backups of all folders\scripts that you delete or edit. In case of mistakes you may make - for restoring.

I just ran into a similar issue. Manually deleting .\custom_nodes[NODE_NAME].git\objects\pack successfully uninstalled it.
