With 4207868714cc8f3282a0c71e9946d25585f0a728 comes the ability to translate strings in the GUI. As an English-only speaker I would love any help creating translations.

The current lang files can be found in: https://github.com/Col-E/Recaf/tree/master/src/main/resources/lang

The format is basic JSON:

FYI: I tried to translate it into German, but then realized that it doesn't make much sense in most cases. It sounds awful and is very uncommon in computer science. Personally, I'd never install such specialized software in German. A prominent example I can tell you is JMeter: first thing I did after install was switching to English because I didn't cope with the German translation which wasn't even bad in spelling and grammar.

I get that, in my opinion the only things that really would be worth translating would be the tooltips since they explain what things are.

On the other side when we have a look in the file https://github.com/Col-E/Recaf/blob/master/src/resources/lang/zh-cn.json then we see that all translation values expected some keywords are translated. Should the translation structure not be the same for all languages?

Translations that aren't present in a language file default back to the English values. If you really wanted, you could have a translation file that only translates one item. That one item will be translated in the UI but everything else will remain in English once you select your file as the specified language in the config menu.
