Scroll-Activated Section Highlighting for One-Page Layouts

What problem does this address?

For websites using a single-page layout, it can sometimes be challenging for users to identify which section they are currently viewing—especially on long-scroll designs. This enhancement would detect the active section as the user scrolls and apply a visual effect such as a soft border glow, background animation, or elevation to that section. The effect would activate dynamically based on scroll position and deactivate as the section goes out of view.

What is your proposed solution?

a visual enhancement that highlights the currently viewed section on scroll, specifically designed for single-page websites using the Neve theme. This feature would add subtle yet engaging visual cues to improve user navigation and overall site interactivity.

Benefits:

Enhances user experience by providing clear visual context

Adds a layer of modern interactivity and polish to Neve-powered sites

Helps users stay oriented, especially on landing pages or portfolios

Aligns with Neve’s lightweight, flexible, and visually clean design philosophy

Suggested Features:

Customizer toggle to enable/disable the feature (Customizer > Layout > Page Sections)

Multiple effect options (e.g., glow, fade, pulse, shadow lift)

Smooth, performance-optimized transitions using IntersectionObserver

Compatibility with both light and dark themes

Will this feature require documentation? (Optional)

None
