Individual sidebar options looks disabled

Open stefan-cotitosu opened this issue 3 years ago • 4 comments

Description:

This is feedback from a customer regarding the individual sidebar options. The thumbnails colors give the impression that the control is disabled when editing pages. Besides that, there is no feedback for the user once a different option is chosen. Regardless of the sidebar position being set to the left, right, or being disabled, nothing changes in the editor, you realize the changes only after publishing them and checking the page on the front end.

Alternatives:

Emphasize the colors of the chosen thumbnail, and leave the unselected ones faded as now.

@JohnPixle @mghenciu can you help us with some better icons?

Hi @cristian-ungureanu Ok, I am feeling a broader UX issue here, as far as I know we cannot preview the sidebar in the edit, so yeah, the user will need to go through the front-end to see the change. Regarding the UI, what I did was to equalise the color a bit, and the faded blue now is the same blue as the other elements. I am attaching the icons as a zip here.

Here is how it should look with the new icons:

Let me know if this helps!

Great, for the selected one, let's keep the blue border / highlight.

We can make use of the images in another way as well, as you suggested:

Emphasize the colors of the chosen thumbnail, and leave the unselected ones faded as now.

We can simply have the opacity for the unselected set to 80% and have the selected set to 100% and with the blue border.

Let me know your thoughts on this. We can go with full opacity for all, as the initial plan, and re-visit if needed.

Thanks!
