Workshop Request

What is the title of your workshop

Engaging demos

What are the key topics that will be covered in the workshop?

How to give an engaging demo. Some key points we should probably include:

  • Catering to your audience - thinking about what they know, and what they would be interested in
  • Thinking about what key messages you want to convey
  • Being concise and to the point - not going into extra detail or getting side-tracked - keeping to time limits
  • Ordering of giving information - aiming to introduce concepts in ways that build on each other, and not needing to keep forward- or back-referencing

What knowledge does the trainee need before starting?

None

What are the topics that will not be covered in the workshop?

Not sure - open to discussion

Any other notes?

One thing that came up in discussion is that it could be interesting to have the trainees give three different presentations on the same project, catered to different audiences, e.g. one aimed at a technical expert, one aimed at a potential user, and one aimed at a potential employer.

Completion

When completed the lesson plan, slides and exercises should be added to the Workshop section of the Syllabus

Additionally, we want to make it mandatory to give at least 5 demos during ITP
