Not clear how to push to github

I feel that I must be missing something obvious

I made a test github account and gave it test repos, public and private, as well as two more via shared Org. Repo creation was via github.com web ui.

I have managed to create test files commited locally, but even in case of personal public file, I cannot see how to push the new commit up to github.

They should push automatically when you commit. That's how it works for me at least.
