Poor multi monitor layout support
Problem Synopsis
Carnac does not places notifications correctly when using multiple monitors in a non linear layout.
Expected Behaviour
Expect Carnac to identify multiple monitors correctly and displays the notification correctly as per the the configuration selected by a user on the Carnac General Settings Tab.
Details description of problem
Carnac appears to identifies the number of monitors and their resolution correctly as shown in the attached image:
Even though it does not match the exact layout correctly (see snapshot of windows display settings)
Screen Number relate to each other as follows:
Windows | Carnac |
---|---|
1 | 1 |
2 | 3 |
3 | 2 |
Scenarios:
For the purposes of these scenarios I will use the monitor numbers as shown in the Windows Display settings not the numbers on the Carnac Config screen
-
If I makes Screen 1 my primary display all notifications display on screen 1 even if I select areas on screen 2 and 3 for Carnac to place the notifications.
-
If I make screen 3 the primary screen then notification appear correctly on screen 3 and 2 but screen 1's notifications appear on screen 3
Let me know if you require any further detail.
Do you require additional information to diagnose this issue?
I use OBS and auto switch to record tutorials. When my mouse move from a screen to the other, OBS records that screen. But Carnac Keys always appear on the same main screen. Also, Shift, Ctrl, Alt pressed alone are not displayed. Shift/Ctrl/Alt + Click on the Mouse isn't displayed. Nice tool. But pretty useless as it is :(
Another multi monitor user checking in. I have a regular monitor positioned above a HiDPI monitor, and Carnac only ever shows on the top one.
I have the same problem, with this monitor layout:
Cannot get Carnac to display on monitor 4, which I use as my streaming desktop.
Same problem here. I have a laptop with 3 external monitors, but Carnac only ever shows key presses on the laptop (primary) screen.
I only have 2 monitors and I tested it. Basically, if the monitors are not in a horizontal layout, Carnac won't display on that monitor. So, if I move my second monitor (in Windows Display settings) above my other monitor, Carnac will not work on that second monitor. If I put the monitor beside my primary monitor, it will display correctly.
Again - same issue. Wont be able to us Carnac for my purpose due to this.
Displaying keyboard shortcuts on any other monitor than monitor 1 wont work. Appears impossible to display anything on any other monitor (is there a workaround)?
Having this exact issue as well it refuses to use the lower monitor
