This looks OK to me, but cleaning operations like this is a little bit tricky as it could make it more difficult for an administrator to figure out what the original problem was after multiple restarts...

@oalbrigt Any opinion on this? If not for the reservation above, it seems fine.

I guess this might make it harder to debug the initial issue, and if we include it maybe we should check that it the user isnt root before doing so.
