On Brave, v1.23 causes 100% browser CPU on some sites
On Brave, v1.23 causes 100% browser CPU on some sites - I tried this the other day when released here on Github as it was not on the Chrome Webstore yet, and started to have issues with my browser. The worst place was when I visited the UPS tracking site or Google's GMail, and the browser task manager showed me the extension taking 100%.
Not long after I saw you released 1.23.1 so thought that might be a fix but there is no .crx so I cannot try it.
Before I could just re-install 1.22 and things were fine again, but that now gets updated automatically - for the time being I have had to disable the extension.
I have tested UPS and Gmail with version 1.23.0 and 1.23.1 and cannot reproduce the behavior. Can you maybe share the log file? If you like also "privately" by mail to support (at) clearurls.xyz.
Sure, I have renabled the extension and enabled logging - I will post what I can find when it happens again
I'm seeing this too on Firefox. For me the Canada Post tracking site reliably causes 100% CPU. The site won't finish loading, and I can't load any other sites either until I kill the WebExtensions process.
I believe I have logging enabled but I don't see where it gets written to.
I've uploaded a pre-release version 1.24.0. @ all are you willing to test this and give feedback if it fixes the problems?

Done. I hadn't had the problem since for some reason, but I will report back if I have any issues with 1.24.0
Could you please update it another time to version 1.24.1? If found a bug with amazon that is fixed in the newest version.

Can confirm Gmail working as it should with 1.24.1 in the environment mentioned in #186. Thank you!

Any chance of a .crx so I can drop it straight into my browser?
Sure: https://github.com/ClearURLs/Addon/releases/download/1.24.1/ClearURLs-1.24.1-chrome.crx

That installs as a second version of the extension - I'll wait for the next release like the others that updates the current one.

Just loaded this, and I can view the Canada Post tracking site without experiencing the issue. I'll keep running it and check back in if it comes back. Thanks!!
Also, following the recommendation I saw in the other related issue, disabling "Prevent tracking injection over history API" seemed to 'fix' the issue as well.
I have this issue as well, however, I can't narrow it down to any specific sites I visited. It completely prevents Chrome from loading anything (not just a single website/tab) until I disable ClearURLs and has occurred multiple times in the last few days. I'll try version 1.24.1, but like I said, I can't verify it against specific sites.
1.24.1 is live in Chrome and Firefox. I hope that all bugs are squashed 🙂
So far so good for me
Haven't had any problems since installing 1.24.1. :) I've switched back to the live version of course.
I found some sites still very heavy and consume much memory and CPU usage. Example: https://poem.mzyy94.com/items/kieta-blog-theme
Especially, in Firefox, loading continues forever. (I tested it in Arch Linux and Mac) In Vivaldi sites are heavy, but some time later loading stops and I can continue browsing again. In Google Chrome, I don't notice any problems so far.
I saw the same phenomenon in my environment at the following URL. https://codezine.jp/article/detail/18109 The add-on version is 1.26.1. Browser environment is Firefox 116.0.3 (64 bit) on Windows 10 22H2. Disabling the add-on has improved the situation.
Stopped doing this a long time ago.
