I don't know if this is an Upstream issue, or a dependancy missing, needing to be added to the build.

When I log into X I'm getting this in a log;

[cinnamon-settings-daemon-smartcard] Failed to start: no suitable smartcard driver could be found

i think you need pcsc-lite, this is added into Slackware Current, but not in 15.0 you can get it from SBo

I figured this out, if someone wants to disable this at startup;

/etc/xdg/autostart > cinnamon-settings-daemon-smartcard.desktop
X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=false
X-GNOME-Autostart-Phase=false
X-GNOME-Autostart-Notify=false
X-GNOME-AutoRestart=false
