Separate playlist for every user

Open RStoroy opened this issue 7 years ago • 11 comments

..You should implement some sort of code that detect that User 1 IP adress 1 is using m3u 1->marked as occupied and send next IP or user to adress 2 to m3u 2. Vis a versa. This way we can add multiple m3u playlist while mantaining the same channellist for multiple users on the plex server. Can this be done.?

It might be done, but I don't see the point for this. In my experience multiple users have no issue accessing same stream using exactly same url (unless there are over 20 users in same room, then my router overheats 😄).

Hi Cigaras,

I would really appreciate your advice on something. I have a strictly private PMS running at home and I share my server with 2 other family members, if I added an IPTV service and gave my family members access to the channels section (IPTV Addon) and we all streamed at the same time would this look like 3 different IP's streaming the same service or would the provider see 3 streams simply from the same IP address?

Apologies if I haven't explained this well, hopefully you will understand.

Many thanks in advance W

I have tested this to confirm. The provider will see 3 different IP's.

I would like to know if it is possible to do this, if someone knows

Cigaras,

The reason why someone would want to do this. Is so only 1 ip address shows up to the iptv provider. This allows multiple people to watch with multiple ips without the provider knowing. This is a benefit in some cases. Would you have a way of doing this? I would also recommend to make this a feature that is available either in a separate release or an ability to turn on or off. Mostly because this feature would be something that would be used in case by case scenario.

YoannZ, please correct me if you have other intentions.

In the beginning request was to use separate urls for separate users, now it evolved to some kind of IP masquerading. First would not change the IP address anyway and later for sure is out of scope for a simple Plex plug-in.

Personal VPN server might be a solution here, it would look like Your family members are watching IPTV from Your house, hence provider should see only Your IP. Alternatively You could run You own (re)streaming server using something like Xtream Codes, TVHeadend, udpxy or similar software, that way You would get data directly from provider and then forward it to You family members. However I can not guarantee that provider wont figure You out.

I get the problem, and I have been thinking about a solution myself.

Ive found a site who provide a few news channels (illegally?), and the url to the HLS-stream has an argument which seems to be a hashed value, probably containing my IP or my hostname. I dont know how the hash is created so I cannot reproduce is dynamically myself.

A solution in my case could be to use the website at my office to get the correct hashed value there, and set up the playlist with the same news channels several times.

Another solution that should work is to use ffmpeg to download the HLS-stream and republish it on a new webisite.

I tried it, and it works, but to save my harddisks I also used a ramdrive to save my disks.

But jn the end, Im not using this, as its to much work, and it downloads the channels 24/7 even if noone is watching, and I need to add troubleshooting to make sure it comes back up it something goes wrong...

Hello.

I'm using the IPTV provider which don't allow to use one playlist on more then 2 devices. So, for watching IPTV I need to use another playlist for each 2 devices. Can I do this with your plugin?
