Suggestion: Membership section enhancements
Was trying to figure out the best way to handle members who have passed on, so I added a Deceased value to Classification because they have surviving family members still attending, so we don't want to deactivate the family, but we don't want to delete their information entirely for historical reasons, nor to we want them to show up in directory prints etc. We've also had some people who have moved or otherwise stopped attending (sometimes 1/2 couple), children who move away, etc and we want to remove them from an active membership role without deleting them. While it's possible to handle all these with classifications, we would like to capture an official date for individual's "final" classification, i.e. membership cancelled, transferred, withdrawn, date of death etc. because there might still be attending family members and thus deactivating the family would be incorrect. While the last activity might be used, there could be other updates (like their new address or something) that might be made in the future, making the date more difficult to verify. The new date could be handled in the custom fields, but it would be better to keep it right with the classification setting. Would also be nice to automatically populate this Classification Date field too.
The one problem with changing the classification is that we loose the prior membership status information. The alternative would be to have a person activity status (e.g. active/moved/non-attend/deceased etc) and/or date. But then all the reports etc would need to verify the activity status, so it would be a lot more work.
Relates to #4169 and #1920
