ESPythoNOW Needs No WiFi

Open Flame1113 opened this issue 8 months ago • 1 comments

Is there a way to run the program and connect set up prep.sh without having to turn off Network Manager. For me, the only way I can get ESPythoNOW to work was by running sudo systemctl stop NetworkManager in the terminal before. If I didn't the wifi mode would always automatically switch over to managed after a couple seconds meaning the program would fail. Anyone else experiencing this or am I just setting this up wrong? I do need WiFi for this specific program so turning it off for ESPythoNow would be a bummer.

P.S: AMAZING PROGRAM!

Best bet would be to use a second wireless interface. One for WiFi and one for ESPythoNow.

ESPythoNow needs the interface to be in monitor mode, but to maintain a WiFi connection the interface needs to be in managed. From the perspective of network manager, this is a problem that it is attempting to solve by changing the interface back to managed mode.

Hope this helps
