Minecraft sometimes freezes when you close the window

When you are in a world and close the window (either via the red x button or Alt+F4), the game will freeze. The only way to get rid of the window is to force terminate the process via a task manager or terminal. This occurs on macOS and Ubuntu, but it might occur on other operating systems.
