Enhance Recent Files and Bookmarking Features
The Config Explorer app has been incredibly helpful in navigating and managing files efficiently. To further enhance its functionality, we kindly request the addition of a setting that allows users to limit the number of recent files displayed to a configurable amount, such as the last 10 files opened. Moreover, introducing a bookmarking feature would be highly beneficial, enabling users to easily access files they need on a daily basis without repeatedly navigating through the folder browser. These enhancements would improve the user experience and workflow efficiency within this already outstanding app. Thank you for considering this request!
Thanks for the god suggestions AK. Unfortunately due to the nature of the app, there isn't a great facility for storing user variables. We can store system-wide data in the .conf file and we can also store some user-data in the browser local-storage, but it will be gone when the person uses a different browser.
I will see if there is a way I can address your suggestions, but in the meantime I would point out there is already a psuedo-way of doing bookmarks.
Click the Settings button, then at the bottom add a section like this:
[action:cd_search]
label = cd search
action = cd:etc/apps/search/local
Adjust as necessary with your favourite locations. This will create a button on the Config Explorer homepage that you can use to quickly get to your locations. Visible to all config explorer users.
Hope this helps and holds you over until I get time for more Config Explorer changes.
Thank you so much, Chris, for considering this enhancement! Following your email, I created a button and, after trying it out, I found it to be fantastic. Honestly, it might already meet the need perfectly. I truly appreciate your thoughtful response and all the hard work you've poured into this incredible app. It’s truly appreciated!
AK

Glad to hear it! Do let me know if you have anymore suggestions and I will see what I can do to incorporate them. I wish I had more time to work on Config Explorer but I am very at the moment due to children :)
