Ban in video game?

Open Valgo75 opened this issue 2 years ago • 9 comments

Hey, is it possible that I get a ban in a video game for using this? Like downloading the video game with that or having that thing on my computer? Or even having it opened when playing a game? If yes or no, why?

Valgo75 avatar Feb 07 '23 00:02 Valgo75

I wouldn't try running it while a game is open and in a match (beyond just the fact that you shouldn't be trying to edit windows while playing a game, just do one or the other), mostly because I would assume some anticheats are just dumb and might not like powershell touching anything that the game might be accessing (i highly doubt the script does but with anticheats, you never know what they look for), but i have not had any issue using this script on every windows install i have and I play CSGO Faceit and Valorant which both have kernel level spyware i mean anticheat *cough*

TL;DR: The script should have absolutely no affect on anticheat, but with anything that touches registry or system files or runs in powershell, you are best to not be running or doing anything with it while in a anticheat heavy game. (some have been autobanned for stupider stuff)

Alright but is it 100% sure that it will not get me banned from games for running it at the same time as the game?

  1. I'm not an employee, no. this project is a collaboration effort and is open source, there are no employees...
  2. Again with my TL;DR, Game anticheats are stupid and not always consistent. Usually, as long as no program is touching the games memory while it is running, or having funky dll's doing stuff while game is running you should be fine. but again, as the script touches registry and system settings, there is always a 1 in a million chance some poorly coded anticheat that is overly sensitive will not be happy.
  3. I play Valorant and Faceit CSGO which have such invasive anticheats that they are also given the nickname of "spyware", and I have had no Issues for the years I have been using this script in production.
  4. Whenever making system changes or running any type of script, you shouldn't have a game running. you are either doing maintenance/admin stuff, or playing a game. Basically, unless the game anti cheat is stupid and overly sensitive, you should be fine. But anticheats have false positives sometimes. Just playing a game with an anti cheat is enough to have a chance to get a auto ban. There was a time where Valorant would ban you for plugging a samsung phone into your pc while playing due to a bug picking up the phone driver as malicious.

NO, they shouldn't touch any game files. If you use the "remove microsoft store apps" option, it will remove any games from the Microsoft store/Game pass, but that is it. Just don't use powershell while playing a multiplayer game... this whole situation doesn't make any since to me as to why you would be playing a game and running a script in the first place...

I just fear that I might forget to close it, can you explain what is powershell btw?

Not to be rude, but if you have no clue what powershell is, you should not be touching github or even running the script. you may be learning, and that is fine, but when you dont even know the name of the program you have to open to run the script you are asking a question about, i am slightly worried. I will no longer respond to this thread as I have given up trying to explain this to you

lavavex avatar Feb 14 '23 23:02 lavavex

it doesnt do anything that would get you banned just dont run the scripts while playing an MP game, run them before and/or after. Simple
