"Reset Windows Update Not Working

Open Squtzy opened this issue 11 months ago • 13 comments

Describe the bug

When attempting to press the "Reset Windows Update" button nothing happens, waiting 5 minutes and nothing still happens. No output in the terminal window when pressing the button either.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Go to Updates Tab
  2. Click on "Reset Windows Update"
  3. Check WinUtil and Terminal (For me) showing no output/action

Expected behavior

When pressing the "Reset Windows Update" button I expect it to run the script to attempt to reset Windows Update, like it has done for me in the past.

Screenshots

No output in console shown when pressing the button. image

I have to go back to release 24.11.25, too find an working one

FatBastard0 avatar Feb 24 '25 20:02 FatBastard0

I noticed going back to WinUtil version 'Release 24.11.25' the Reset Windows Update feature works. Like with the "WinGet Reinstall not working" issue I have also made #3189 I'll tag you @MyDrift-user here as well, just so you see that this is also an issue after that release.

Haven't looked into this specific issue yet, also do not remember someone working on that in the timespan of the mentioned release, will look into it in the near future if I find the time :)

That is fair.I just know that it worked for me. Not all solutions are for everybody, but I appreciate you pointing that out.

It only works in a older release

Thanks! I ran irm "https://github.com/ChrisTitusTech/winutil/releases/download/24.11.25/winutil.ps1" | iex like @MyDrift-user wrote and that is indeed working!

I’m currently running Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, build 22631.5039, and I’m experiencing the same issue. The first script release that works correctly for me is version 24.11.25 too.

because of action. It is still there, should give hope? SO it was working on irm "https://github.com/ChrisTitusTech/winutil/releases/download/24.11.25/winutil.ps1" | iex So why is it not working now?
