„Install driver to show Hardware“ Microwin

Open mirojohn3 opened this issue 1 year ago • 11 comments

I created an ISO with micro win and placed it on my Ventoy stick. After booting from the stick, the Windows installer started, but a screen appeared saying, “Install a driver to show hardware.” My BIOS detects all drives. I tried adding my motherboard’s Intel Rapid Storage drivers on another USB by extract the exe via 7Zip, but the installer still doesn’t recognize the drives. I formatted the Drive with diskpart.

-Mainboard Asrock Z97 Extreme -Disabled Secure Boot

Greetings from Germany, and thank you in advance for your help!

Same issue with 24H2. The installation without microwin works correctly

Same issue. Tried wimboot and normal boot on ventoy, same problem. Did not use the "copy to ventoy" option, just put the file in myself. Checked the hash of my original ISO and it's not corrupt. Note: I had no problem with 11 Pro, only happened when creating for 11 Home.

I had this issue and solved by mounting the ISO file without the drivers.

I had this issue when flashing with BalenaEtcher for both Pro and Home but when I flashed with Rufus instead everything worked fine.

Sidenote, I unchecked all of Rufus' "Windows User Experience" options in case they conflicted with any MicroWin tweaks.

@Dangasa98 How do you mean?

Same, so do I need to install Linux before Microwin as the stock install of windows 11 is giving me issues because of Intel rapid storage drivers.

Going Linux first sounds more appealing now that microwin is marketed as easy but its NOT

Can Microwin still create Windows 11 home ISO from laptop WIndows 10?

candrapersada avatar May 16 '25 11:05 candrapersada

I can name 10 different models from different manufacturer that have this problem with microwin and work just fine with regular windows iso ! RST drivers and some wifi drivers are removed during microwin and it's annoying AF

If anyone ran into this problem for now download intel RST driver (IRST and it's around 3 to 5mb) from manufacturer website and put it on the same usb as your windows and load drivers in storage tab while installing

Same issue on B450 AORUS Elite V2 (rev. 1.x) No fix yet?

Renaming the install2.wim file in source to install.wim fixed this issue for me. I'm unsure why the naming is different from original microsoft iso.

Edit: The iso need to extrected and/or repackaged for this.

I fixed this by installing a regular windows, downloading the drivers and when doing the microwin i injected the drivers

What drivers did you download, exactly? I can't seem to figure this out.

I used snappy driver installer and windows update, then i injected the drivers.
