@andou-azarashi You probably installed the incorrect version then.

Hi Chris! I wonder if disabling windows indexin would disable Outlook emails indexing too...

For me, the best upgrade on Everything vs Win Search is that the first one can also search on GoogleDrive folders even if you have it set up as "stream files".

I use a vector art program called CorelDraw and am able to see thumbnails of these files ( .cdr is the extension) using default Windows Explorer. I would love to use Everything but am trying to find out if it will be able to display these files as thumbnails the same way that Windows Explorer without any issues. I use these files all day long in my work flow and don't want to interrupt that if possible. Fingers crossed that it should be able to display this filetype as a thumbnail because this seems like a really wonderful program

Okay the first step is confusing. I'm using Windows 10 and want the stable release so which version do I install?

Automaton49 avatar Jan 19 '23 19:01 Automaton49

@Automaton49 last stable release is 0.7.4, it works with Windows 10.

@Automaton49 last stable release is 0.7.4, it works with Windows 10.

I went on here: https://winget.run/pkg/voidtools/Everything

It says v1.4.1.1022 so what's the difference between that and the 0.7.4 Chris is trying to pull from winget?

There is a group policy to disable the search UI, it removes the search in the start menu.

@Rvnd0m I just tried on my work laptop and it indeed disables Outlook email indexing. Outlook displays an error saying you have to enable the service. Pretty big disadvantage for people forced to use Outlook at work like me.

Well, after a few days of trying this I had a problem where when I went to the search bar for Everything I was unable to type ANYTHING no matter what I tried. Thus I could not search the computer that way. I had to uninstall and reenable Windows indexing.

It was a good idea but it needs way more work.

I have been using Windows almost always. Especially the latest version of windows. If someone is looking for a license at a good price, I recommend this post: https://royalcdkeys.com/products/windows-11-pro-retail-cd-key
