Audio Stutter With RetroArch Using Game Mode At Native Res

Open TheRhysWyrill opened this issue 1 year ago • 3 comments

As per the title there appears to be some odd issues with the audio when launching retro titles via Game Mode, as far as I've tested this is only effecting RetroArch, did not appear to be an issue when launching a game in RPCS3 the same way, also does not appear to be an issue when launching the same game through Steam on the desktop side.

Here's 2 videos that showcase the issue:

Just to add some more information to this, it would appear that the issue is due to the resolution/refresh rate, when the device is set to native it defaults to 4k so in order to workaround the audio stuttering I need to manually set the display resolution to 1920x1080@120/60 and that causes the audio stutters to disappear 👍

So, this just sounds like your computer is not powerful enough to run games at the native resolution.

@alkazar This is only effecting RetroArch, running Standalone emulators like PCSX2 or Yuzu through Game Mode handle the native resolution with no audio stutters, the fact this doesn't happen on RetroArch with Desktop Mode set to 4k tells me this isn't a hardware issue.

The videos I've attached in my initial post showcase both environments at 4k but as you can see/hear the stuttering is only present in Game Mode.
