FR: Custom highlight and alert support for Channel Points redemptions

Open samthecodingman opened this issue 5 years ago • 2 comments

What should be added? Add a new tab in the "Highlights" settings that allows you to configure alert sounds for certain channel point redemptions.

This should be functionally similar to the existing message highlights, but instead of searching the message text, they can instead search the reward's title.

Some examples:

  • "Hydrate" redemption could be colored differently from other redemptions.
  • "Turn (on|off) webcam" as a RegEx, could play a custom sound to remind the streamer to toggle the webcam.

Why should it be added? While alerts that pop up on stream can be configured within streaming software, sometimes a simple audio alert or differently colored highlighted message off screen is all that's needed for simple channel point rewards like the examples above.

How do you suggest this be configured? Not all channels have the same rewards. Would the entry be per the reward ID? Wouldn't that make for quite a long list if you watch quite a few channels?

As I originally suggested, the text match would apply to the title/name of the reward - "Highlight my message", "Rename world", etc.. You could use the raw ID as you suggested, but you are right in that could get out of hand quickly.

Personally, I'd only need to use it in the one or two channels that I moderate, as that would be the only time I would need to be "alerted" to them being used. I wouldn't need it across all the tabs/channels that are loaded in the client. I'd argue that others wouldn't need it in every tab either.

That said, highlights working for specific channels/chats would probably need to be it's own feature request. Getting pinged for "sam" in all channels gets annoying fast.
