Latest gnomesome doew not work properly on GNOME Shell 3.28.4

When installing the latest version of gnomesome from git on Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS, https://extensions.gnome.org/local/ displays "Error" (instead of "ON" or "OFF").

$ gnome-shell --version
GNOME Shell 3.28.4

At first sight everything still works, except launching a new terminal with Mod4+return.

When reverting to 2e19a64242ced00ed533e0b458e890721a3f0a40, everything works again.
