[FEATURE REQUEST] Change virtual device name

Open federiev opened this issue 4 years ago • 10 comments

Can you add a feature (just a textbox would be great) to rename the default "OBS-Camera" to a text of our choice?

+1 I want this feature also.

I tried my best to do this properly. I built the plugin from the repo, after having changed all occurrences of OBS-Camera, but it didn't work, I tried some more stuff in similar vein, but again, to no avail.

But, if a workaround would work for you, then I have good news. If you search your registry for OBS-Camera, you shall find two hits that correlate to the first camera. The first one, having no name would change the name that's shown in your browser's drop-down menu for selecting the camera. And the other one, having name FriendlyName should change the name that your browser passes on to the webpage.

You are a savior! I've been trying to do this for almost 2 weeks now, I did try to edit some registry values but it didn't work before.. There are some sites that block the camera's output because of it's name so that's the solution I was aiming for.. Thanks 👍

Hi, could you tell me where is this key ? I searched my whole registry for OBS-Camera, I can't find it anywhere.

You probably didn't search the right name, search exactly - "OBS-Camera". You'll need to change 2 values that contain this name.

I searched exactly for OBS-Camera. The search doesn't find anything

Weird, maybe you haven't searched the whole registry, perhaps the plugin didn't install properly. Try reinstalling it (use the installer .exe).

Look over here boys :

Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WOW6432Node\CLSID{860BB310-5D01-11d0-BD3B-00A0C911CE86}\Instance
A bunch of numbers after that, my exact path was Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WOW6432Node\CLSID{860BB310-5D01-11d0-BD3B-00A0C911CE86}\Instance{A3FCE0F5-3493-419F-958A-ABA1250EC20B}

Yeah i changed the FriendlyCam from here and it changes the name from everything. Idk about the other file Kid0h mentioned. enjoy the hackerman feelz =)
