obs-virtual cam not showing up in Chrome or Zoom

Open doprz opened this issue 4 years ago • 4 comments

When I use Google Hangouts I don't get the option to show the obs-virtual-cam. I fixed this issue by turning off Hardware Acceleration under Chrome's settings but it makes it laggy. Any ideas on how to fix this with out turning off hardware acceleration?

**Update: ** I managed to allow Google Chrome to recognize the obs-virtual-cam by going to Settings and updating the default camera.

Also when I tired using it with Zoom for Windows 10, the obs-virtual-cam shows up but it just displays grey even though i have the obs-virtual-cam turned on? Any ideas???

Update. This issue is still ongoing with Chrome.

Chrome does eventually detect OBS virtual but it takes a few minutes. I am not sure what causes it to eventually work, just takes time it seems. The virtual camera only works when changing the default camera for Chrome under settings after a waiting period..

The work arounds discussed in issue #78 are no longer working: NDI web interface does not detect OBS virtual cam. DLLSafeCheck has been patched. There are more clever workarounds deeper in the infosec community but not practical for the common end user. Turning off hardware acceleration in Chrome might be related to the solution. But isn't a clear direct fix.
