Investigate alternative app stores
Google Play has been getting increasingly hostile to FOSS and hobbyist apps, with ridiculous verification requirements and now Required app testing for all new personal developer accounts.
While Catima is, of course, already on F-Droid, we should investigate some more alternative app stores to reach more users and help them regain some privacy.
:x: Huawei AppGallery: Tried, their policy of requiring users to accept a privacy policy even if you collect no data is pretty user-unfriendly. Their support is also horrible, telling you you for example you broke rule 5 and then it makes no sense unless you check the Chinese rules. Not really interested in retrying, lot of drama. :grey_question: Samsung Galaxy Store :grey_question: Amazon App Store :grey_question: Something else?
Last time I checked, Amazon added proprietary tracking components before resigning the app when uploading to their store. This seems like unwanted behavior considering the mission of "helping users regain some privacy" you stated above 🙂
