Taxonomic Editor
Develop a comprehensive taxonomic editor that allows a taxonomic community to curate taxonomic datasets with names, name relations, references, synonyms and taxa.
Editing history should be tracked and changes be linked to actual users. Convenient interfaces need to be developed for common non CRUD operations such as:
- make a current synonym the accepted name
- transfer a whole taxon incl synonymy or a homotypic synonym block to a different taxon
- deduplicate references & names
- bulk import data by merging/importing sectors from existing datasets. Temporary, personal datasets can be created by uploading simple csv lists that then can be used as source sectors.
Managing distributions, descriptions & vernacular names could potentially be a secondary feature.
Here's a good use case for taxon concept IDs and separation of taxonomy from nomenclature.
