This can (still) be reproduced does not work for regular apps either. Tested by using the minimize button in QT and Windows + D shortkey.

I've never seen this, what you try to do is set your game to Windowed Maximized or Borderless Fullscreen and then open QuickTools.

@KhouryKhaos it's up to you how you use the program. It's quite a large toolbox of options. If manual TDP works, but not AutoTDP, check if RTSS is running and...
